What are the causes of genital warts?
Genital warts (Condyloma, venereal warts) are caused by the human papilloma virus or HPV. The virus has more than 40 known strains, but only a few will cause genital warts and in 90% of the cases these are the HPV 6 type and the HPV 11 type.
The virus that causes genital warts is transmitted by skin to skin contact usually during vaginal, anal or oral sex with an infected partner. The disease is one of the most widely spread STDs and affects millions of sexually active men and women.
Many treatments are available and we will take a brief look into some of the most effective ones, but up to day the most effective way of eliminating the causes of genital warts is prevention - a very effective vaccine for women, named Gardasil, has been developed and approved by the FDA (the Food and Drug Administration in the United States), and it successfully combats some of the virus strains that are known to be a contributing factor for cervical cancer.

Another way to prevent getting infected is to limit the number of casual sexual contacts and practice safe sex with the use of condoms. Condoms, of course, are no sure-way of eliminating the causes of genital warts, but sexual partners that use them run a very low risk of contracting the HPV or any other STD for that matter.
The types of human papilloma virus that cause the genital warts are usually low-risk viruses and in many cases the people infected will not even experience any symptoms at all. This, on the other hand, makes them a high-risk carriers; due to the fact that some strains of HPV might cause cervical and (less often) anal, vaginal or penile cancer, regular check-ups are encouraged. In the cases where the cause of genital warts lead to the development of flesh-colored bumps or even clusters of warts, you should consult you doctor and ask him or her for the appropriate treatments.
The treatments available today are the various medications that can be used for self-healing the warts at home or treatments that require visit to the clinic like cryotherapy (freezing the warts with liquid nitrogen), laser ablation and electrocautery (using electric current). Other very effective solutions for genital warts are the natural products like Dermisil for Warts, Heal Warts and Wartrol. All three products are easy to apply, painless, very effective, leave no scarring at all, contain no harmful chemicals and cause no irritation to the skin.
The causes for genital warts - some of the strains of the human papilloma virus, are difficult to avoid while leading normal sex life even with a single partner, but you should be aware that in most cases the disease does not present great risk to your health, can be successfully treated, and in some cases will even be eliminated by your own immune system without the need of intervention at all.
